Chris will stay in my memory and my heart forever. When my first daughter was born she was tiny and I was rather large and on the breast side 4 different midwife's showed me 4 different ways, non of which worked properly. A doctor told me my baby was hungry and to just give up and bottle feed her. I was heartbroken and felt useless and a bad mother. I was told to take her to Victoria Drive weigh in clinic where I walked in and burst into tears. I was introduced to Chris who comforted me first then listened me, to what I had tried, to what I had struggled with, then unlike the other midwife'she asked permission to help. She was gentle and encouraging and made so so soooooooo much sense. She made me feel like she had all the time in the world for me. The next day I was at home and still trying when she phoned me to see how I was doing she then offered to visit me at home. Another 4 times Chris went out of her way to visit and help me and I will be eternally grateful as I fed my daughter Olivia confidently and proudly for 19 months, so much so I trained to be a breastfeeding support worker and used all of Chris's advice and encouragement to help others. Move on 2 year's and my second daughter was born I thought I would be a pro at breastfeeding but I was sadly mistaken, all my support from Chris and training went out of the window as emotions took over and my first thought was to contact Chris, I was told she was no longer at Victoria Drive family center and I went into a panic. But through the power of Facebook I was put in contact with her. She came to my house without a second thought. Explained to me my 2nd daughter Grace was a much larger baby than Olivia was and gave me alternative ways to hold her for feeding. She recognised I had back pains and showed me ways to feed without making my back worse, she even gave me ideas to help Olivia whilst I'm feeding Grace so Olivia did not feel ignored. Chris phoned me once again the following week to see how I was and reassured me she would always be on the end of the phone I went on to breast feed Grace for 19 months too and its all thanks to Chris. She was patient, kind, reassuring, understanding, knowledgeable and a good friend through an emotional roller coaster. I will be forever grateful to the angel that is Chris and know that anyone who gets her magic touch is lucky. Thank you Chris.
